Change to the training requirements for RouteONE

24/09/2012 11:21:26

The ACS submitted a Major Change application to the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). The application was to reduce the minimum training period for Route 1 candidates from four years to three.  This was the only change to our requirements.  The method of assessment, the portfolio, competencies and the standards required all remain unchanged.

Our application was approved by the HCPC Education & Training Committee on the 13th September.  We will implement this change for all submissions made after 1st January 2013.  Prior to that date we will not accept any Route 1 submission that does not have a four year training period.

We recognise that there may be an influx of applications next year.  We do not have any additional assessors to undertake these assessments so there may well be instances when we are unable to allocate submissions to the next round of assessments and that this already happens at present but is more likely to occur both in 2013 and 2014.
